The First Day on Board

After swimming in the Rhine, we went back to the hotel, showered (the Rhine can be kind of gross) and checked out.  We went back to the old town and took a few more pics of Rathaus, which was better than we initially saw yesterday.  Snapped a few pics of the big church and then off to the boat.
We got to our boat, the River Queen, around 3pm.  It was like getting to an all inclusive resort.  The crew were there to greet you, take your baggage etc…  We were shown to our stateroom where our baggage was waiting for us.  We had 3 hours to unpack, and explore the boat.  Given that this our home for the next 2 weeks, we did unpack and make sure everything was in its place.  You have to be creative with unpacking, as the room is small. It’s well thought out, but small.
We had a port talk where they went over safety and rules for the ship etc…  We met a couple from South Carolina, Roger and Anne.  They were very nice to talk with.  They invited us to sit with them for dinner.  We also sat with another couple, Steve and Donna from Chicago.  Everyone is very nice, both passengers and staff.  It reinforces the hopes for the trip.  Food was great.  The epicurean cruise was the way to go!  We didn’t get pics of the meal, but the menu is posted.  Wifi apparently is spotty, so if we miss a post, apologies.

Special happy birthday with to my mom!  Hope you enjoyed your day.
